Can you believe it’s day 7 of the Healthy Habits Challenge already? Wow – that flew by!

Warning: Today’s topic may seem a little ‘woo- woo’ to some of you, but I promise, this is important stuff that you may not think about, AND it can have a dramatic impact on your health.


If you watched the video, you already know that the topic is “Mindful Eating.”


A big part of mindful eating is being more aware of what you are eating, chewing your food more, and taking the time to fully enjoy your meal.


Did you ever think about chewing your food more? This is something I wish I knew about years ago because it can really make a difference in how you feel after a meal. 


In addition to the weight loss benefits, some studies show that we absorb more nutrients when our food is adequately broken down in our mouth, before digestion. In an article about mindful eating US Newsstates, “The more you chew, the more nutrients you will absorb. Considering we eat to nourish our bodies, this is an important point to make. If you properly chew your food, it will be digested and metabolized more effectively.”


Many times our hectic lives lead us to rush through a meal without ever taking the time to truly appreciate our food.


Practicing mindful eating to your healthy lifestyle can be an excellent way to complement your existing habits. It can help you lose weight, aid in digestion, and help you to enjoy your food more than ever before.
